Full suspension mountain bikes are a good all purpose choice which usually feature lockout suspension to make them just as effective as their hardtail counterparts at climbing. The rear suspension makes them even better for bumpy off road trails! Imitations costing a few hundred pounds or less should be avoided, a good hardtail will suit tighter budgets best.
