Hardtail Bikes (Front Suspension)
Hardtail bikes are usually the most suitable type of mountain bike featuring front suspension and a lightweight frame making it ideal for cross country (XC) biking and general use.

Down Hill Bikes (Full Suspension)
Downhill bikes AKA full suspension mountain bikes are designed for just that, going down steep bumpy terrain. These bikes are able to take more stick and require more components to do so. They are usually heavier and not so well suited to day to day use. Full suspension mountain bikes seen in high street stores for about £100 are cheap imitations and should be avoided as they are only good to look at!
